To find this, we again went through the setup.py file, and found the following: linker_args = ![]() The terminal discarded the null character, but the unix compiler module of distutils was not able to handle it.īut another question still remained unanswered. Now everything was becoming clear, why there was no file name in the error message and why the command was executing successfully on the terminal. ![]() There was an empty pair of quotes in the parsed list of command (the second last element in the list) and the failing component was the gcc linker. It became evident to us that the linker was trying to link against the null character and was failing.
